Masters of the Universe is a surprisingly fun and self-aware adventure that embraces the campy spirit of the original cartoon. Blending Guardians of the Galaxy-style humor with solid action, strong performances, and impressive CGI, the film delivers laughs, heart, and nostalgia in equal measure. Director Travis Knight crafts an entertaining crowd-pleaser that leaves plenty of room for future adventures.

Morbius had the potential to explore a conflicted anti-hero torn between science and monstrosity, but settles for a predictable CGI-heavy superhero formula. Despite Jared Leto’s intriguing premise as Michael Morbius, the film reduces its story to “monster fights bigger monster,” wasting opportunities to connect the character to the larger Marvel multiverse in a meaningful way.
