Bikes, Bonding, and Big Emotions: Father's Day 2026 Kannada Movie Is a Ride Worth Taking

I was looking forward to watching Father's Day on a weekend, considering it looked different and fun from any other Kannada movie I had watched lately. But when Harshil Koushik himself invites you to the premiere of a movie that I can talk about with friends and fellow cinephiles, I couldn't miss it!
Special thanks to Harshil Koushik for inviting me to the first day showing of his awesome Kannada movie that I can be proud of and share with everyone I know. Also, Raj, my friend, who was kind enough to take decent pics of us with the cast of the movie.

What's the Father's Day 2026 Kannada Movie About?
Father's Day revolves around the candid interactions between an estranged father and his son on a road trip that turns out to be an unforgettable experience for both father and son.
After discovering that his father is an avid biker, Sushant equips his bike with panniers ( Bike bags/containers ) and rides off to attend the wedding of a friend, where he would meet his father, Sudheer, and strike up a conversation.
Cast
Harshil Koushil plays the son who is curious about his estranged father and comes up with an approach that will let him get to know his father organically, while in touch with his pregnant wife and mother over the phone. Koushik balances the grounded wisdom of the father with impetuousness and curiosity that bind the whole story together and sets the film up for a beautiful conclusion that some of you may see coming, but is highly enjoyable nevertheless.
Coming from the theater world, Ajith Hande in the Father's Day 2026 Kannada Movie brings a sincerity to the role of the estranged father that makes him more relatable than just being an absentee father, while adding dimensions to his character that unravel with time.
Alok Babu ( aka ALL OK, the Kannada rapper ) lends a massive shot of humor to the whole movie effortlessly while portraying a nefarious character who is unintentionally funny within the movie plot. His wardrobe choices in the movie were straight fire, and references to food by him and his henchmen were just priceless.
Kshema Shetty plays Sushant's mother to perfection as the independent mother who has raised her son and is a warm person. All the while, the narrative and on-the-road interaction between the father and son form the core of the movie plot without any distraction, such as unwanted twists or the need for an obvious antagonist with evil intent.
What Makes Father's Day Great
The plot is fresh and original, with emotional heft as well. They have employed a mockumentary-style narrative by the actors, which is fun and moves the plot forward. The movie has real bikers as actors who travel and even perform tricks on their respective bikes - this lends a welcome measure of authenticity to the movie.
The Cinematography in the movie is brilliant, giving you a feel of the open road and the unconventional, beautiful landscape of the rural countryside in Karnataka that is sure to inspire more bikers to take on the open road. They have made good use of drone shots to highlight the beauty of the location.
You might like Deep Dive with Harshil Koushik of Aachar & Co. Fame Sound Design in Father's Day is truly impressive, with me being able to hear the bike engine idling along with the sounds of the night, such as crickets and the rustling of leaves and grass. Their approach of not dressing up what is already perfect in the audio has really paid off, with it sounding great where it matters.
Joe Panicker has crafted some great bangers, which quite literally set the tone for the movie and remind you of the musical stylings of ALL OK.
Should You Watch This? Hell Yes!
If you want a nice family movie told through the lens of a biker's journey with some laughs and a slightly emotional yet somewhat happy ending, then watch this.
Also, all Kannadigas should definitely watch this and support Kannada cinema, and this is just fun Indian cinema!
